A good day of editing.

Image
Today was my first day of editing for the opening sequence! I started by making sure that my editing software was correctly working. I also wanted to check to see if the clips that I took were exported properly, and was happy to see that they did. Hopefully we won't have to film anything, or discover anything that is wrong with the clips! I only edited a little less than half of the film but am happy of how the first part came out. I started by choosing my font  that I was going to use for the opening sequence. I chose the blocky text that I was planning on. The blocky text is conservative and doesn't draw too much attention away from the opening scenes. I also used conservative transitions, I didn't use too many fades because it would make the film drag on. In contrast, I used cuts to transition between different excerpts, this was seamless and effective. I did make plans to use a fade when necessary. For example, when an actor looks back as if they are reflecting on the

Thought filming would be over.... but its not

Today as I went to edit the clips from our last day filming, I noticed something terribly wrong! All the clips, that I shot while filming rendered super blurry. At first, I thought it was a problem with the editing software, so I restarted it but the same thing happened. I begun to worry as I was hoping I wouldn't have to re-film anything. I tried to shoot a sample video, and see if it was a problem with the software or clips. The sample video rendered clear so i knew that the actual clips is what was blurry. I even viewed the clips after our last filming day and they seemed to be fine, im not sure when or why this happened. Then, I wondered to myself if I didn't check them enough to see that they were blurry. Anyways, I was able to meet up with my teammates to re-film most of our scenes. This didn't take too long, as we mainly knew what we had to do since we had done it before I started by filming the first couple of scenes and then acted out as the kidnapper once again.

Another great filming day.

Today was my second day filming our opening sequence. To start, before filming i reviewed my clips from the last session once again. I did this to make sure that we had not made any errors, and we didn' t need to re-film anything. The good news was, everything looked perfect, we didn't need to re-do or edit any of our clips from my first day of filming. But, we still had a lot of work ahead of us. I put my costume on, and acted out a few scenes to start. I made sure that I had all the props that I needed for that day. Furthermore, after putting my costume on, I wanted to check and make sure that the editing software did not need to be updated, and that it was ready for when we needed it, after filming. I checked Imovie, and everything seemed to be running smoothly, so I started to finish the opening sequence. I filmed the last remaining scenes and then forgot to leave room for the sound track! There were some scene in which my lines were not correct. As a result, they were wor

A great day of filming!

Today was my first day of filming! I met our group at a park near by all of our houses, and we planned to film the majority of our scenes there. I made sure to bring a fake knife, proper costumes, so our film would be as realistic as possible! Since it was our first day, I was still figuring out where our scenes will be filmed at the park, but we found our perfect spots nearby a basketball court, and an open field. At first, I was an actor. I helped act out a couple of scenes but not as a subject. However, I also did some filming work that did not include me in the scenes. In the end, we were only able to get a few scenes complete so I have a long way. At the park, I was also able to use my friends car to film a couple scenes that required it. Here I acted like we were driving to a place. In reality, we weren't driving! We simply re-located to a different area in the park to film some more after the drive in a "new location." Furthermore, in the scenes we did, we were ab

Plans got canceled today.

So today I made plans to go film at a local park, but unfortunately it didn't work out. I got home, grabbed my gear and was ready to head out. I grabbed all of our props, which included costumes, a fake knife and etc. But as soon as i went to head out, it started pouring!! I waited about fifteen minuets but the rain just didn't stop, so me and my group made a compromise. I decided to head over to nicks house where we would be able to work there inside. I started there by planning some final touches about our script and outline. I also saw examples movies that are in the same genre of ours. We noted some important thins, like low angles that were used throughout the film. I also realized that in these professional films, low angles are used to show the power of the subject. I planned to implement this is our film to show the kidnapper having power. I also researched some new editing software to use after filming our opening sequence. But, most of them came with a charge so I

Music in the production process!

Image
Today I picked out what kin of music that our group was going to use in our film. I wanted something that portrayed the overall idea of the movie. We chose music that put the audience in suspense, thrill, and captured their attention for the entire opening sequence. To start, I chose music to open up the opening sequence. This helped with the establishing shot, and set the tone of the beginning of the film. Our group also wanted our music to not be too suspenseful, because the shots are mainly introduction, with highlights to the credits. So i chose to use only thrilling sound when necessary. Our group is using non-copywrited music. Since no artists go back to us on confirmation to use their audio, we had to make do! Also, we chose music from two different songs. Since there is a lot of dialect in the opening sequence, I did not want any music to override the actors speech. Hence, we chose songs that laid a great back round to the dialect. Although, there will be times when only the

Our storyboard!

Image
Here is our storyboard, and everything that will be included in our film!! Sheet 1: To start off our film, Nick opens the door to a question, this question will make the audience wonder what he exactly is looking for, in which he is looking for a mysterious item. Something that connects the characters involved in a mysterious way. To capture this we will use many angles, like eyeline shots, and even some wide angle shots. Next, nick, and the victim will walk towards the basketball hoop, thinking that the mysterious item they are looking for is near there. This scene will require a long shot. As that scene concludes, The next will also primarily take place at the basketball hoop, as nick and the victim begin to question themselves on where exactly the eerie item is. Long shots will continue to be used, but also an over the shoulder shot, and eye level shots. Nick, and the victim begin to become concerned, as they believe they are being scammed, so they call the once again "myster

Title design planning

Image
This is our groups information on the specifics on our title sequences through our film: Font: We will use a solid, blocky style large bold font, that gives an intimidating feel and captures the goal of our overall thriller genre, and suspenseful tone throughout. Colors: For the most part, darker, more bold colors will be used in our title sequence, we want the focus to be on the film itself and bright colors risk the audiences attention from being taken away from that. Size: We are going to use a smaller font size in our title sequence, nevertheless we are sure to make the font plenty big for our audience to be able to recognize who took part in this film. But, again we want most of the attention to be drawn towards the film we are working so hard to create! Working title: Our working title will contain all of our actors, as well as behind the scenes participants, who edited. Who worked on sound choice, costumes, and overall all of our conventions that we learned. We also will end th
