AICE Media Studies

 Today was my first day of filming for my music video project!! Overall, I'm very happy with what I got done today and feel that my team is on track to making a great music video. Today, I worked on filming my first three scenes, and it started with the first one taking place at my house. So, my team filmed me while I was laying in my bed, and acted like I was waking up to start the day. This was one of my most important scenes. I feel this scene was important to film because it lays foundation, and sets the tone and mood for the rest of the media. The next thing I did during our first day of filming was travel to the park with my group mates, here I also was acting, and talking with my other group mate actor. The weather did seem not so good almost as if it was going to rain. But, luckily, it ended up clearing up so I was able to get the rest of my film in for that day. In today filming session, I think my favorite scene to film was personally the one where the table was set, and

  Scene 1: In this scene, me and my group will film an actor, lying in bed as an alarm clock goes off, this is then when the song will start. this will be an extreme close up shot. Scene 2: After scene one, the next scene will take place in the kitchen of a group mates house, here breakfast will be served and it will start the day. breakfast will include items such ass eggs, bacon, and juice. this will be a eye level shot. that will pan into an extreme close up of the food. Scene 3: In scene 3, my group will film two actors walking around frost park talking, and simply catching up about their day, we will be sure to include happy facial expressions to show the meaning of the song. this will be a wide shot Scene 4: For scene 4, the basketball will be introduced, at the gateway of the basketball court at the park, where an actor will be questioning, "who will we playing basketball with today". this will also be a wide shot. Scene 5: This is when we will start a one on one game

  Props: Since my group and I decided to film a music video for the song It Was A Good Day by ICE CUBE, the props we will include is basketballs, slushies from 7-11, an alarm clock, a phone and breakfast items. We will be using other props as well, but they have not yet been determined. Costumes: In the music video, we will have all our group members in the video. For the scene where were at the park, I will wear athletic clothes for when I play basketball. I will wear sneakers, shorts, and a tank top. The actors will wear what they want for the scenes because the music wants to show that the actors are having a good day just being themselves. The music video will show that it like any other good day. Schedule: On 11/12/21: Me and my group research conventions of music videos and the song, It Was a Good Day. On 11/16/21: Me and my group establish props, costumes, schedule, location list, and backup plan. On 11/18/21: Me and my group will have the storyboard for the music video created.

Our song for the music video project is "It Was a Good Day," By Ice Cube. This genre of Old School rap hols its own use of Camera angles, Mis-en Scenes, Sound, and editing that help form it into its own genre. Other songs that are similar that we researched are, "Still" by Dr. Dre, and "I Got 5 On It" by Luniz. Camera Angles, and Movements:  Many camera angles are used in the making of an old school rap music video. 1 . In our research, we found that many eye-level angles are used to show the artist talking, or rapping to the camera.  2. Next, low angles are used to show the artist looking down on the camera, as they dance or rap 3. Wide shots are used to show groups of people in sometime a mob, to get the meaning of a message, or match the lyrics in an old school rap song. 4 . Tilts are used in old school rap music videos. 5 . Finally, close ups are are an important movement that is used in this genre because it shows the audience how the subject can so

 My group for this music video projects will be Nick Pearlman, Ava Kanter, Wren Ruby and me. We are so excited to continue on a new piece of media in this class, and also so excited to start our music video! Nick really improved throughout the last project in this course, he is even better at filming from different angles. Nick has also improved on his acting. Nick is a very athletic person, and this can be used in our media projects through advertising, and helping us with the acting portion of certain scenes. Finally, Nick is always optimistic and pushes our group hard to achieve our goal. Our next group member, Ava, who primarily works with a camera. Ava had improved over this course and now understands and can apply most angles in film to our projects. Because of this, it improves the quality of projects, and shows the audience exactly what we were going for.  Hey! My name is Charles worth, and I'm in AICE Media studies(AS level). This is an introduction, and where I will continue to be posting all of my blogs throughout the year. I'm so excited to be creating a new piece of media, and blogging about my journey. I've always loved media, and watching films so it is going to be a great experience making more of them. I also have some experience in editing which will also help me get through some film projects. Editing is also another reason why i wanted to take this media class. Not only can i improve my editing skills by taking this class, i can also improve filming, acting, and overall knowledge about media. I've already learned a lot this year in media studies, and i hope to put that knowledge to use. part of what I have learned so far are the terms of media.
